On April 18, 2024, the author Yevhen Klopotenko‘s new book “Collection of Recipes for Children’s Meals in Educational, Children’s, Health and Recreation Institutions and Institutions of Social Protection” was presented.

The collection of recipes for dishes recommended for school meals, a significant step towards improving children’s health, was prepared as part of the School Nutrition Reform Strategy. This strategy, initiated by the FIRST LADY OF UKRAINE, Olena Zelenska, aims to revolutionize the nutritional standards in educational institutions.

The staff of the Laboratory of Nutrition Hygiene and Safety of Food Products of the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» took part in the development of the collection:

  • Head of the Laboratory, Doctor of Sciences (Medicine), Professor Mariia Hulich
  • Senior Researcher of the Laboratory, Candidate of Biological Sciences, Liubov Liubarska,
  • Leading Researcher of the Laboratory, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Olena Petrenko.

The collection was developed within the framework of the Ukrainian-Swiss project “Reducing the Prevalence of Noncommunicable Disease Risk Factors in Ukraine” (short name “Acting for Health”). This project, a testament to the global commitment to child nutrition, is being implemented by a consortium of organizations: GFA Consulting Group, University Hospitals of Geneva /Hôpitaux Universitaires de Genève (HUG)/, Women’s Health and Family Planning Charitable Foundation, and One Health company, with financial support from Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

This significant work has been done to promote and provide healthy and tasty meals in Ukrainian schools. A balanced diet is one of the most effective ways to prevent the development of chronic diseases. Therefore, investing in healthy food in schools will improve Ukrainian children’s health.
