☢️ Chornobyl is not just a thing of the past. It is a challenge we face today

🗓️ On April 21, a press conference was held at the Ukrainian National News Agency “Ukrinform” with the participation of the President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Vasyl Lazoryshynets, Academician of the NAMS and the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, members of the Presidium of the NAMS of Ukraine, as well as heads of NAMS institutes directly involved in studying the consequences of the Chornobyl disaster, and media representatives on the topic:

“40 Years Since the Chornobyl Disaster: Consequences, Challenges, Threats.”

📍During the discussion, participants recalled the events of 1986, outlined the key challenges facing the healthcare system today, and emphasized the main point:

radiation is an invisible risk factor whose consequences manifest over years and affect multiple generations.

⚡️Experts emphasized that research continues today. Ukrainian scientists are continuing to study the long-term medical consequences of the disaster and to develop approaches to treating and supporting people who were affected or involved in the cleanup efforts.

🎦 Journalists had the opportunity to ask questions and receive expert commentary directly from the heads of institutions and scientists who have been working on this topic for many years.

✅ A continuation of this important professional dialogue lies ahead.
