Opening of a New Cardiac Surgery Department at the Chernivtsi Regional Hospital
Director of the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,» Chair of the Chernivtsi Regional Council’s Health Care Committee, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Igor SHKROBANETS, as part of a delegation from the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine led by the Academy’s President, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine Vasyl LAZORYSHYNETS, participated in the opening of a new cardiac surgery department at the Chernivtsi Regional Hospital.
The department will operate as a modern center for highly specialized care under the patronage of the M. M. Amosov National Scientific Center for Cardiovascular Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, which will allow residents of Bukovina to receive complex treatment without having to travel to clinics in the capital.
The department has 15 beds, four of which are designated for intensive care. An in-house intensive care unit has been established here, minimizing postoperative risks and ensuring constant patient monitoring. The premises have been completely renovated, and modern ventilation and medical gas supply systems have been installed.
The unit is headed by experienced cardiac surgeon Andriy PEREPELYUK, who was introduced by the President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Director of the M.M. Amosov, Academician of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vasyl LAZORYSHYNETS, noted that Mr. Andriy is a native of Chernivtsi and worked at the M.M. Amosov Institute for 16 years. Under his leadership, the hospital has already successfully performed dozens of unique cardiac surgeries.
The Academy and the regional hospital plan to establish a full cycle of cardiac surgical care in the region and recruit new specialists to the multidisciplinary team.
It is worth noting that the opening of departments of highly specialized medical care in the regions under the leadership and patronage of the National Academy of Medical Sciences is another step toward implementing the forward-looking Plan for the Development of National Medical Science and Integrating Scientific Achievements into the Country’s Practical Healthcare System.
