On March 31, 2026, the General Assembly of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine was held
📍The General Assembly of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine was held, during which the results of 2025 were reviewed and key priorities for the development of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for the coming period were outlined.
🏥 The meeting was held at the State Institution “Academician A. P. Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery of the NAMS of Ukraine.”
🇺🇦Participants included the leadership of the NAMS of Ukraine, representatives of government agencies, national academies of sciences, academicians and corresponding members, and delegates from scientific teams.

📍During the event, a moment of silence was observed in memory of colleagues—academicians who passed away in 2025–2026:

📊Vasyl Lazoryshynets, President of the NAMS of Ukraine and Academician of the NAMS and the NAS of Ukraine, addressed the event participants with a report.
🔍In his report, Vasyl Lazoryshynets presented the results of the Academy’s activities for 2025. Despite the challenging conditions of wartime, the system of scientific institutions of the NASM of Ukraine, comprising 31 institutes, demonstrates stable operation: the latest treatment methods are being implemented in cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and transplantology; areas related to the treatment and rehabilitation of the wounded are actively developing, as well as the provision of medical care in cooperation with the National Health Service of Ukraine.
🌍An important step was the strengthening of international integration—cooperation with the Federation of European Academies of Medicine (FEAM), which opens new opportunities for Ukrainian science within the European space.
📃The following items were on the agenda:
- approval of the academicians-secretaries of the departments of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine;
- approval of the composition of the Bureau of the departments of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine;
- approval of the directors of the State Institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine:
✅ Igor Shkrobanets – Director of the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine»;
✅ Mykhailo Khizhnyak – Director of the State Institution “A. P. Romodanov Institute of Neurosurgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”;
✅ Bohdan Bozhuk – Director of the State Institution “Y. I. Kundiev Institute of Occupational Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”.
👥Participants in the event noted: the key priority for 2026 is the accessibility and free provision of high-tech medical care in cooperation with the National Health Service of Ukraine, as well as the development of domestic medical science.
