On November 19-20, 2025, the IX International Conference «Sustainable Development and Heritage in Sport: Problems and Prospects» and the XXI International Conference «Current Problems of Sports Medicine» were held at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine, during which a meeting on «Public Health» was held for the first time.
At the invitation of the organizers, researchers of the Laboratory of the Social Determinants of Population Health of our State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» took part in this forum. At the plenary session on «Public Health,» the Head of the Laboratory, Doctor of Medical Sciences Svitlana HOZAK, presented a report entitled «Adaptive Coping Strategies of Students in Conditions of War Stress.» In her report, she focused on the tools used by students to cope with stress during wartime, which strategies have proven to be most effective, which are gradually losing their significance, and what this means for mental health support programs during wartime, as well as why even the most effective strategies do not work for everyone. Svitlana HOZAK also emphasized that during wartime, physical activity, walks, sports, as well as music, communication, and caring for others remain powerful tools for supporting resilience and maintaining the health of young people. The authors plan to publish the materials of this study.
