On January 21, 2026, representatives of the Japanese water treatment systems manufacturer Nihon Genryo Co., Ltd. met with scientists from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» (SI «IPH NAMSU»).
The participants of the online meeting were greeted by the Director of the SI «IPH NAMSU,» Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Igor Shkrobanets. The Director gave a speech on the directions and tasks of the SI «IPH NAMSU» and said that the Institute’s specialists provide expert support for state and investment projects and are interested in developing constructive cooperation to implement joint scientific and practical initiatives.
The meeting was attended offline by Olesia Zorina, Head of the Laboratory of Surface Water Safety, Doctor of Biological Sciences specializing in «Hygiene and Occupational Pathology,» Senior Researcher, who gave a presentation on the areas of activity of the Laboratory of Surface Water Safety of the SI «IPH NAMSU» and said the following: «To date, specialists from the Laboratory of Surface Water Safety have participated in scientific research, the results of which have been published:
development of national regulatory documents on the quality of drinking water in “peaceful” and “wartime” conditions, as well as the quality of water for bathing;
basics of hygienic regulation of biocides for water;
the state of the Dnipro River and the main approaches to treating its water at water supply stations in Ukraine under current conditions.
The main focus of the Laboratory of Surface Water Safety is the assessment and management of risks associated with the use of various water sources, as well as various technologies, materials, and equipment for water purification in order to prevent disease among the population.»
The meeting participants exchanged information with a view to further planning joint work to introduce Japanese water treatment technologies in Ukraine.
