On February 5, 2025, the International Water Forum «Yaremche 2025» was held. «The price of drinking water in Ukraine in today’s realities»
The Forum was organized at the initiative of the Ukrainian Association of Water and Sewerage Enterprises «UKRVODOKANALEKOLOGIYA.»
The Forum was attended by Ukrainian MPs, representatives of Ukrainian ministries and agencies, representatives of international humanitarian and financial organizations, water and sewerage companies, local governments, business and research institutions.
Participants of the UN Economic Commission for Europe’s National Policy Dialogues on Water Program participated in the Forum’s sector on the Roadmap in Ukraine for the implementation of Directive 2020/2184/EU on the quality of water intended for human consumption:
- Karishma Kadyan, Training Specialist (WASH), UNICEF Ukraine;
- Tamara Kutova is the coordinator of the program;
- Volodymyr Kobylianskyi, Associate Professor of the O.M. Beketov National University of Urban Economy in Kharkiv, Candidate of Technical Sciences;
- Head of the Laboratory of Surface Water Safety at the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,» Doctor of Biological Sciences, Senior Researcher – Olesia Zorina.
Olesia Zorina noted that in 2020, specialists from the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» developed a draft of Sanitary and Epidemiological Norms 2.2.4-171 «Hygienic Requirements for the Quality of Drinking Water Intended for Human Consumption,» which was finalized in 2021 by working groups at the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine and the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, and in 2022 by experts from the Ministry of Health of Ukraine and the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,» taking into account the requirements of Directive 98/83/EC and partially the requirements of Directive 2020/2184/EU.
Today, the urgent issue is to finalize the draft Sanitary and Epidemiological Norms 2.2.4-171 to fully implement the requirements of Directive 2020/2184/EU in Ukraine.
