About participation in the TAIEX Workshop on Atmospheric Air Quality Legislation
On August 12-13, 2025, Arina PETROSIAN and Tetiana MAREMUKHA, specialists of the Laboratory of Air Quality of the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,» took part in the TAIEX Workshop on Atmospheric Air Quality Legislation.
As part of the event, they participated in a discussion on implementing European approaches to air quality assessment in Ukraine, as well as the introduction of new legislation on the air quality index.
Ukraine has made an essential step in this direction by adopting Order No. 590 «On Approval of the Procedure for Informing the Population on Air Quality by Key Indicators Using the Air Quality Index.»
During the workshop, participants discussed the following issues:
- ways to effectively inform the public;
- implementation of European Directives 2008/50/EC and 2004/107/EC;
- modern approaches to air quality monitoring, including requirements for reference and indicative measurements.
The event was a continuation of a series of TAIEX initiatives – expert missions and study visits that promote the harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with EU environmental standards.
