Event: «Coordination of National Contact Points’ Activities within the Framework of the New Calls for Proposals of the Horizon Europe Program under the 2026–2027 Work Programs»

On March 6, 2026, the event «Coordination of National Contact Points’ Activities within the Framework of New Horizon Europe Calls under the 2026–2027 Work Programs» took place, organized by the Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine.

Opening remarks were delivered by Olga POLOTSKA, Executive Director of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine, Yegor PIVOVAROV, Policy Expert on Science and Innovation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine, and Iryna BILOUS, State Expert of the Expert Group on Strategy and Integration into the European Research Area at the Directorate for Science Development of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.

The event program included both theoretical and practical components.

The following presentations were delivered:

  • Results of Ukraine’s participation in FP9 for the 2021–2026 period and the activities of the «Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine»: Ihor TARANOV, Head of the «Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine» Department at the National Research Foundation of Ukraine;
  • Current opportunities for Ukrainian participants within the framework of open calls under the Horizon Europe Program, its components, and missions: Olena KHARINA, Senior Specialist of the «Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine» Department at the National Science Foundation of Ukraine;
  • Horizontal actions as one of the key innovations of the 2026–2027 Work Program: Vladislav MYKHAILENKO, Senior Specialist at the «Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine» Department of the National Science Foundation of Ukraine;
  • Partnerships, opportunities for Ukraine, and calls for proposals within partnerships: Maksym KOLISNYK, Senior Specialist at the «Horizon Europe Office in Ukraine» Department of the National Research and Development Agency (NRDA).

During the practical session (using the example of the call «Economics of climate change and cost of inaction» (HORIZON-CL5-2026-07-D1-03)), participants discussed the structure of project proposals, the use of AI during proposal preparation, and cross-cutting components of the Program, Open Science, SSH, ethical and other aspects, and budgeting rules for project proposals in 2026-2027: updated forms and key changes.

Alla Koblianska, Candidate of Medical Sceinces, Head of the Department of the Support of State Programs and International Relations, represented the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» at the event.
