On April 15, 2025, at 16.00, a regular meeting of the Discussion Club of the National Museum “Chornobyl” was held on the topic “Radiation or Information – What Caused More Damage in the Chornobyl Disaster?”.

The discussion analyzed the causes, consequences, and ways of exposure of civilians and liquidators of the accident, including military personnel, in the process of eliminating the consequences of the Chornobyl accident. Some radiation accidents at military facilities in the USSR were also analyzed. The medical consequences of exposure were analyzed along with the type of exposure and the amount of dose received by the accident liquidators and victims of the accidents. It was concluded that the information and awareness of the participants in the process had a significant impact on the dose received and the medical consequences of the dose received. The importance of implementing the concept of emergency preparedness to reduce the consequences of potential accidents in the future was emphasized.
