The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine held meetings on the situation with the pollution of the Seim River in Sumy Oblast and the Seim and Desna Rivers in Chernihiv Oblast
At the end of August and in the first days of September 2024, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine held meetings on the situation with the pollution of the Seim River in Sumy Oblast and the Seim and Desna Rivers in Chernihiv Oblast. These meetings were held online and attended by representatives:
- Ministry of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine,
- Ministry of Health of Ukraine,
- State Agency of Water Resources of Ukraine,
- State Environmental Inspectorate of Ukraine,
- State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection,
- as well as scientists of the State Institution «Marzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine» – Acting Head of the Laboratory of Surface Water Safety, Doctor of Biology, Senior Researcher Olesia Zorina.
At these meetings, proposals were presented for measures to reduce the content of pollutants in the Seim and Desna rivers. It was decided to assess the need and possible ways to adjust the technological regulations for the preparation of drinking water by Kyivvodokanal PJSC, taking into account the results of modeling the predicted residual concentration of manganese, iron, phenol, and fluoride at the water intake point in Kyiv or actual pollution levels.
