Today, we remember the millions of people affected by this disease, support those living with HIV, and emphasize the importance of access to quality healthcare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccdQuick facts<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 HIV is a virus that attacks the immune system, gradually reducing its ability to fight infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 AIDS is the final stage of HIV infection, which occurs without treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 More than 39 million people worldwide are living with HIV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 Antiretroviral therapy (ART) allows people to live a full life, control the virus, and prevent its transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 A person with an \u201cundetectable viral load\u201d cannot transmit HIV through sexual contact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u261d\ufe0f\ud83d\udcac\ud83d\udc68\u200d\u2695\ufe0f How did World AIDS Day come about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The day was established in 1988 by the World Health Organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 It was the first global health initiative focused on solidarity, support, and information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 The symbol of the day is a red ribbon, which represents remembrance, hope, and struggle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccdPrecautions and recommendations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Safe sex is the basis of prevention.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Using condoms significantly reduces the risk of HIV transmission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"2\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Get tested regularly.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>It is recommended to get tested once a year, or more often if you are at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The test is free and takes a few minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Do not share needles or instruments.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>This is one of the most common ways of transmitting the virus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>ART is vital.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Modern treatment allows you to control the virus, protect your partners, and live a long life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"5\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be aware of stigma.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Discrimination against people living with HIV causes no less harm than the virus itself.<br>Respect, support, and do not create barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83d\udccdPosition of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine continues to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 support scientific research in the field of infectious diseases;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 develop a system of early diagnosis;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 work on improving treatment and prevention methods;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2022 promote public awareness of HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\ud83c\udf97\ufe0f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>(date of publication on the website: 01.12.2025)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>December 1 \u2013 World AIDS Day \ud83d\udccdThe National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine emphasizes that the fight against AIDS is not only about treatment, but also about awareness, responsibility, and prevention.
