At the initiative of the President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Academician Vasyl LAZORYSHYNETS, the first meeting of the Interinstitutional Coordination Council for the implementation of the Action Plan to mark the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The head of our State Institution \u00abMarzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,\u00bb Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Igor SHKROBANETS, joined the Interinstitutional Coordination Council for the preparation and implementation of events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The plan includes holding an international scientific conference \u00ab40 Years of the Chernobyl Disaster: Consequences, Challenges, Threats,\u00bb preparing and publishing a national report, a scientific monograph, a collection of essays \u00abUnited by Chernobyl,\u00bb as well as carrying out simulation exercises on responding to radiation emergencies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was chaired by the acting Director General of the State Institution \u00abNational Research Center for Radiation Medicine of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine,\u00bb V.A. ZHOVNIR, with the participation of the heads of leading institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine: Academician M.D. TRONKO, Academician Y.G. ANTYPKIN, Professor Igor SHKROBANETS, Doctor of Medical Sciences N.E. GORBAN, as well as representatives of the State Institution \u00abNational Research Center for Radiation Medicine of National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine\u00bb \u2013 Corresponding Member of the NAMS of Ukraine V.O. SUSHKO, Academician D.A. BAZYKA, L.O. LIASHENKO, Professor L.I. SHVAYKO, L.A. YANOVICH, N.O. KOROL, and Advisor to the President of the NAMS of Ukraine G.B. GOLOBOKOV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The participants agreed on priority scientific and organizational tasks and outlined ways to implement the Action Plan effectively. The creation of an inter-institutional working group to perform the functions of the Coordination Council secretariat was discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We are beginning systematic work on preparations for the 40th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster, an event of great importance for science, society, and national security in Ukraine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
