<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On September 24, 2025<\/strong>, a regular meeting of the Public Health Coordination Council of Kyiv was held.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event was chaired by Petro Panteleev, Acting First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting was also attended by: Marina Poroshenko, Chair of the Standing Committee on Health Care and Social Policy; Valentina Ginzburg, Director of the Kyiv City Health Department; Head of the State Food and Consumer Service of Kyiv; representatives of the Kyiv City Center for Public Health and the Department of Education and Science, representative of the NGO \u00abUkrainian Association of Public Health\u00bb Olha Rudnytska<\/strong>, and other members of the Coordination Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the discussion, a number of issues important to public health were raised, in particular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
The state of providing Kyiv residents with high-quality and safe drinking water;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Restrictions on the use of trans fats in confectionery products;<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The formation of a culture of healthy lifestyles among students (prevention of smoking among schoolchildren, creation of an information platform in educational institutions for the development of healthy eating habits).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Based on the results of the meeting, a number of priority joint tasks were developed to implement the initiatives discussed. Participants emphasized the importance of further cross-sectoral cooperation in this area, as preserving and strengthening public health is one of the priorities identified in the Kyiv City Development Strategy until 2027.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Members of the NGO \u00abUkrainian Association of Public Health\u00bb submitted proposals to the Coordination Council’s protocol instructions on the following issues:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
1. Providing the population of Kyiv with high-quality drinking water that is safe for human health:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n
In order to prevent outbreaks of disease among the population, especially among preschool and school-age children, it is recommended to introduce mandatory testing of the quality of municipal drinking water, water in vending machines and kiosks, and city drinking fountains at least twice a year. Particular attention should be paid to checking the quality of drinking water in school canteens, drinking fountains, and coolers used for preparing food or beverages, as well as for drinking raw or boiled, regardless of the status of the educational institution.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Taking into account the experience gained from the implementation of the city program “Clean Water for the Children of Kyiv,” which has been in effect since 2005, plan to install filtration systems in all preschool and school educational institutions and drinking fountains, which should provide drinking water in school institutions at a ratio of 1 per 100 children.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Recommend that large trade and industrial enterprises, shopping centers, recreation centers, other organizations, park areas, and places of mass gathering install clean drinking water dispensers, while ensuring constant monitoring of its quality and safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Responsible for implementation:<\/strong> Department of Education and Science, State Food and Consumer Service of Kyiv, Kyiv City Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (Kyiv City CDC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
2. On the issue of eliminating trans fats from confectionery products manufactured by relevant enterprises in Kyiv:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Conclusion of agreements (memoranda) by the Kyiv City State Administration with manufacturers on the supply of products to the Kyiv retail network and public catering establishments without exceeding the trans fats standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To maintain demand for products that do not exceed trans fats standards, it is advisable to approve the decision of the Kyiv City State Administration to adjust the terms of tenders for Kyiv organizations that purchase food products through tender procedures. Introduce as a priority the requirement to purchase products without exceeding the Trans fats standards for state and municipal organizations in Kyiv: hospitals, schools, children’s institutions, hospitals, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
Monitor the Trans fats content and Trans fats labeling on food labels and packaging for food suppliers to state and municipal organizations in Kyiv: hospitals, schools, children’s institutions, hospitals, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inform consumers, manufacturers\/suppliers, and relevant authorities about any violations of Trans fats standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Responsible for implementation:<\/strong> Kyiv City CDC, State Food and Consumer Service of Kyiv, KCSA Department of Information and Communication Technologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
