On April 15, 2025<\/strong>, at 16.00, a regular meeting of the Discussion Club of the National Museum \u201cChornobyl\u201d was held on the topic \u201cRadiation or Information \u2013 What Caused More Damage in the Chornobyl Disaster?\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udc64 The guest of the event is Yurii SKALETSKYI<\/strong>, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, one of the founders of the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy, member of the National Radiation Protection Commission of Ukraine (NRPCU), retired colonel of the medical service, head of the Laboratory of the Security Strategies at the State Institution \u00abMarzieiev Institute for Public Health of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.\u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83c\udfa4 The club’s host is writer and scholar Serhiy MIRNYI<\/strong>.
The event lasts for 1.5 hours.

The discussion analyzed the causes, consequences, and ways of exposure of civilians and liquidators of the accident, including military personnel, in the process of eliminating the consequences of the Chornobyl accident. Some radiation accidents at military facilities in the USSR were also analyzed. The medical consequences of exposure were analyzed along with the type of exposure and the amount of dose received by the accident liquidators and victims of the accidents. It was concluded that the information and awareness of the participants in the process had a significant impact on the dose received and the medical consequences of the dose received. The importance of implementing the concept of emergency preparedness to reduce the consequences of potential accidents in the future was emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
